We get stressed only when we feel stressed. That is, that we start finding a situation too overwhelming to handle. That is why well-meaning friends say things like “don’t let the situation get to you”. What they are trying to tell us is that the longer we can effortlessly face or resist a stressful episode, the less worried or exhausted we will feel, because eventually this too shall pass.
It is true that some people are more resilient and mentally tougher than the others, they take longer to crumble under pressure, but there are in-fact certain foods that can give us that extra fuel to face a stressful situation head on a little longer. These are called adaptogens.
As the term implies adaptogens help the body and the mind to adapt to seemingly uphill tasks with a relaxed mindset and better focus. And no, they are not some expensive brews or potions found on top of a mountain in the Himalayas!
Some of the most effective adaptogens can be found in our backyard, and others in our kitchen. These include Ashwagandha, Tulsi, and Turmeric to name a few. Make sure that you take these adaptogens everyday in any shape or form, for instance, you can have turmeric with milk or in your food (our moon milk is a ready to brew combination of ashwagandha, tumeric, nutmeg etc), you can chew on some Tulsi leaves (also found in our chai masala) growing in your garden.
